CASE STUDY || GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK GENEVA

Helping Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Geneva to empower students as entrepreneurs

GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK (GEW) GENEVA

In 2020, Global Entrepreneurship Week Geneva celebrated 10 years of working to build the entrepreneurial eco-system and engaging people of all ages and at all stages of their entrepreneurship journey.

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is part of the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) program portfolio, creating enabling environments for start-up businesses. GEW is celebrated each November.

WORKING TOGETHER

As part of GEW Geneva’s programme of events, the Concours de la Meilleure Idee is key to enabling students from UNIGE and other Universities in Geneva to share their ideas and start their entrepreneurship journey.

Normally run as a face-to-face event, GEW Geneva needed to respond to COVID restrictions and find new ways to engage students as young entrepreneurs.

THE APPROACH

Working with the Concours’ lead, Matthias Kuhn (UNIGE) and Cyril Deleaval from Genilem, Elaine created and delivered an e-learning course and online bootcamp; and acted as a Mentor during the Concours event.

The e-learning and online bootcamp were designed to embed the entrepreneurship process and build foundation skills; whilst enabling students to voice their ideas for problem-solving for the planet. Having completed the e-learning, participants then took part in an online bootcamp, reviewing their Business Model Canvases and rehearsing their pitches in preparation for the Concours event.

POWERFUL RESULTS

  • 90% of participants in the e-learning course joined the online bootcamp.
  • All participants in the online bootcamp took part in the online Concours.
  • All participants said that their learning journey around exploring and articulating their idea, gave them the tools to pitch confidently during the Concours.
