Develop foresight as a core green competence
Building the capacity to navigate uncertainty, imagine alternatives, and make wiser decisions today.
Every role shapes the future.

Not because everyone works in sustainability, but because the choices we make — in education, business, policy, community work, design, technology, and everyday life — influence ecological and social futures.

Yet many green skills frameworks focus primarily on technical knowledge, tools, and competencies.
What's often missing is the capacity to think with the future itself.
I help you to reorient yourself.

I help individuals, teams, organisations, and communities develop foresight and futures-thinking as a practical green competence - strengthening their ability to navigate constantly changing environments,  imagine alternatives, and act with care in uncertain times.
What is foresight
as a green competence?
Foresight and futures-thinking are not about predicting what will happen.
They are practices that help us:
  • recognise assumptions about progress, growth, and change
  • imagine multiple possible futures
  • work constructively with uncertainty and complexity
  • understand how power, culture, and identity shape decisions
  • make choices today that support long-term flourishing
In a rapidly changing world, this is not an additional skill.
It is a foundational capacity for regenerative futures.
What this capacity‑building supports
Developing foresight as a practical, lived capacity helps you to:

  • think beyond short-term pressures.
  • imagine futures grounded in place and lived realities.
  • strengthen agency in uncertain times.
  • navigate complex change without getting overwhelmed.
  • make decisions with greater awareness of long-term impacts.
  • practice collective imagination responsibly
  • create space for new possibilities and ways of working and living.

The goal is not simply to think about the future differently.
It is to act differently in the present.
How we practice this
Foresight develops through practice, reflection, and experience.
Rather than delivering content about the future, I create spaces where people can develop futures-thinking as a lived capability.
Depending on context, this may include:
  • facilitated foresight workshops.
  • scenario exploration grounded in lived experience.
  • collective sense-making processes.
  • reflective and relational practices.
  • place-based learning and inquiry.

Formats vary, but the intention remains the same: building the capacity to engage uncertainty with curiosity, responsibility, and care.
"It’s been such a pleasure working with you Elaine.
You are an absolute force of nature and your ethos and outlook on life is very inspiring."

Who this is for
This capacity‑building work supports:

  • organisations connecting people to nature.
  • sustainability and regeneration practitioners.
  • teams navigating transition and systems change.
  • educators and learning designers.
  • community practitioners and facilitators.
  • young people developing agency and futures literacy.

The work adapts to context — without losing its centre.
What this is not:

This is not a green skills training package.
It is not an innovation accelerator, compliance framework, or solution-generation workshop.

Instead, this work develops the deeper capacities that shape how we think, imagine, relate, and act.

The aim is not to produce faster solutions.
The aim is to cultivate wiser choices.
An invitation if you are looking to:
  • build foresight as a practical capability.
  • strengthen people's confidence in navigating uncertainty
  • support collective imagination and long-term thinking
  • align green work with belonging, care, and responsibility
  • cultivate the capacities needed for regenerative futures.

I'd love to explore what this could look like in your context.
