FUTURES WONDER LAB® TRAINING

Take this training if you want to empower young people as problem-solvers for nature, people and planet.

Learn how to run idea sprints, innovation challenges and hackathons to engage your youth community and build their skills for unfolding flourishing futures.

INNOVATION CHALLENGES & IDEAS ARE THE WAY WE ACTIVATE HOPE

Learning how to have ideas to solve problems that you're 'in-love' with is the key to believing that you can make change happen. 

It's the starting point for bringing your unique, problem-solving creativity to the table.
It's a space for developing essential life, workplace and entrepreneurial skills and attitudes.
It's a place of joy, fun, equality, diversity and inclusion through imagining flourishing futures.

By exploring from problem to idea, it's a way to increase wellbeing and resilience.

Playing with ideas to innovate solutions is a catalyst for self-confidence, self-belief and collaboration.

This is what we want for all young people. This is what they want for themselves.

WHO IS THIS TRAINING FOR?
Young leaders, University students, student committees, educators, public librarians, school librarians, social enterprises working with young people, NGOs with a youth programme, curriculum developers, organisers of hackathons and innovation games...in short, anyone qualified to work with young people.

This training is all about giving you the tools, framework and practice to engage, empower and inspire the youth in your community. 
LEARN HOW TO...
In this learning-by-doing, 4-week interactive programme, you will learn how to:

  • Increase wellbeing and resilience using the innovation process.
  • Design innovation games, camps and challenges around real-world problems.
  • Get a step-by-step, easy-to-use, proven framework and process for engaging your community.
  • Give young people a powerful starting point for taking action to solve problems that they're in-love with.
  • Develop essential life, workplace and entrepreneurial skills and attitudes through the activities.

This is an experiential programme for maximum impact, so you'll start to develop your own innovation activities immediately and test them out.
I loved doing this idea challenge, because it was an opportunity for us as children to share our ideas about ways to save the world, which would make everyone very happy. It was good because there were no limits on ideas. We could draw diagrams and make models which makes it easier to explain the ideas and how they work. I loved that Elaine was very positive and encouraging." James, 10 years old

Here’s how the online training programme works
Your programme is a 4-week online group training which includes:
  • 1 x 90 mins live start-up session in week 1
  • 3 x 90 mins weekly live masterclass sessions in week 2-4
  • 1 x 30 mins Q&A session at the end of week 2
  • 1 x 30 mins Q&A session at the end of week 4
  • Weekly in-depth modules taking you step-by-step through the Futures Wonder Lab® process
  • Your own e-learner space to access your course materials 24/7
  • Interactive community Q&A Forum in the e-learning platform
  • Interactive space in the e-learning platform to share your case-studies for feedback
  • Access to additional resources to develop your insights and understanding
  • Access to all recordings of the sessions
  • Certification as a Practitioner on successful completion of the programme

By the end of the training, with completion of case studies, you will be a Futures Wonder Lab® practitioner: you’ll know how to develop and generate your own local innovation challenges for young people. 

In addition, your masterclass programme includes:
  • Membership of the Flourishing Futures Collective.
  • ​Monthly newsletter sharing insights, updates and support.​
What is my time commitment outside of the sessions?

This is an experiential programme. The activities are designed to be used in your everyday work with young people right from the start. Expect to spend 10 minutes per day - longer as you like - building your practice.
What technology is required?
  • Computer - desktop or laptop
  • Internet access
  • Bluejeans App - To participate in the live sessions, you'll need the Bluejeans video-conferencing App
  • Camera and microphone - To participate in the live sessions feedback, you'll need a microphone and camera

You'll also gain access to your personal online learning space on Hazu and a community forum. 

Cost of the training
The cost of training is 295 CHF. There are no additional fees or taxes.
What is a Futures Wonder Lab®?
A Flow In Action Futures Wonder Lab® is where you make a 'space' for people of all ages to learn how to have ideas, play with ideas and use futures thinking and wonder as tools for imagining new, positive futures for themselves and the planet. 
Why use wonder?
Wonder is an essential tool for increasing positive emotions and problem-solving. It is used as a key tool in futures, creativity and innovation thinking to find new perspectives and solutions to challenges. 
How long do my innovation activities need to be?
In the training, I'll show you how to create activities that range from 3 minutes to 3 hours, as well as ongoing programmes of engagement. 
Will it fit in with other resources?
Yes. It will align with and link to other activities such as reading challenges, entrepreneurship events and maker-space activities.
What skills am I building as a Futures Wonder Lab® Practitioner?
You'll be developing your own professional innovation and entrepreneurial competencies to flourish personally and professionally and lead the way to a greener, fairer world. 
What skills will I build for young people taking part in the innovation activities?
You will be empowering them as a community of problem-solvers for the planet. 
Using futures thinking and wonder as tools, you will be embedding key skills in futures-thinking, creativity and innovation tools, design and systems thinking, which enhance wellbeing, resilience and entrepreneurial spirit.
