Youth advocating for climate action want to be taken seriously by policymakers. They want their ideas, projects and insights to be heard and considered, through meaningful conversations at climate events and beyond.
 
Bringing new perspectives as the voice of future generations, youth want to secure action now to trigger urgent action to prevent climate breakdown, and to bring regenerative solutions.
 
It is time for youth to take their advocacy and action to a new level of activation by doing real-time open innovation with policymakers in every discussion.
 
To do that, by learning how to use strategic foresight tools to connect, explore and test ways forward with policymakers, youth will cultivate the conditions to set the direction towards flourishing futures.
 
With extensive experience of working to empower youth with UN Agencies, schools and as start-up entrepreneurs, Elaine France guides youth participants to be the new generation of innovators taking action for the planet. Her contribution enables youth to meet policymakers on an equal footing, with confidence and resilience to create radical solutions for adaptation and mitigation.  
  
Together, we will:

• Define open innovation and why it’s empowering for youth to engage policymakers. 
• Learn the basics of strategic foresight tools and how they enable youth to explore change, impact, consequences and opportunities for radical solutions. 
• Practice rapidly identifying signals, trends and drivers of change.
• Identify emerging trends and questions that help to bring clarity around risks and future shocks.
• Practice with the strategic foresight tools to role play how to use them in informal conversations, meetings and during sessions with policymakers. 

Who? 
This class is for youth climate advocates who are representing organizations at climate events with policymakers. It is also open to youth who are exploring their climate advocacy approach.
